It does allow background downloading but the problem is I have to enable a setting. And this setting needs to be reenabled every time I close and reopen the app otherwise background downloading doesn't work even though the setting should have been enabled by me. Update: After months of using it I've also noticed that it is very buggy. For example, because of the background downloading, Torrex doesn't close properly when you want it to. So if you restart your phone, all your downloads might disappear.
