The only reason I gave it 9 stars instead of ten is because it did not come with the foot pedal to switch between the channels. Guess I'll just have to buy one of those because I do like to bounce back and forth between loud and soft settings. It would be nice to be able to switch to the louder channel when I go into a lead. My only complain is that after several years of light usage, it began cutting out and making buzzing noises. Considering it's an acoustic amp and nothing crazy is being done with it, I would have expected better quality-wise from Marshall.

The two channels are a great feature. On more than one occasion, we have had to plug the piano into channel 2. I have also plugged a microphone into channel 2 in a solo situation. Most of the time, I use the amp as a monitor on the platform, and use the DI out to the mains. A handy little feature is that the DI out is before the master. That means I can set the output to the mains, and then if I need a little more on the platform, I can turn up the master output.

Most of the time I have a Takamine EF341SC in channel 1 and a Larrivee L-03-12RE in channel 2. I use a Zoom A2 processor thru the effects loop. I have no complaints. I would highly recommend this Amp for the type of music I play. The other acoustic player uses a Fender Acoustisonic amp.

I owed a california blonde but was having trouble with it so I tried fishman, fender. And several others and chose the Marshall.

For the price it sounded better than my second choice the fishman mini which was not as full with vocals and guitar played at the same time. The acustic sounds natural with the marshell. I have a Seagull artist and a Breedlove oregon concert and I wanted a amp to make them sound the same as unpluged. This amp sounds great and the reverb and chours are added value and both sound good if you like effects that are subtle but risk sounding. Some reviews complained about no mid tonecontrol, but I think they do not relize how much mid tone control you have with the notch filters which notch selected frequency which gives alot of control over the mid range. I play my guitar without the amp and then bring up the volume and compare the sound and I can get a exact duplicate with the amp.

I paid alot of money for great acustic guitars and this amp let's me get that sound amplified, plus I get great vocal sound also. The DI is before the master volume so if you decide you need a little more volume on the platform, you can turn it up without affecting the mix coming from the sound system. I usually use the amp with a guitar plugged into each channel, but I have used it with a condenser mic plugged into it for speaking to a large room.

I have also used it once in a pinch with a guitar plugged into one channel and a keyboard plugged into the other and the mix sent to the house sound system with the DI. The sound is very warm and I think it colors the acoustic sound less than other amps I have used. I have used the amp by itself in small churches and plugged into the house system in larger churches.

It performs very well no matter what size venue I am in. It is also very light and easy to carry.

Is a huge plus.The only thing I'm going to do is put some fold-back legs on the amp so I can use it as a monitor.Just a minor complaint as I'm using a dictionary to do the same thing at the moment.To be able to set your sound at home then go to the venue and be ready to go takes so much guess work out of trying to pin down a great sound.Buy this amp.you will not regret it!.Mark.

Comments about Marshall AS50D 50W 2x8 Acoustic Guitar Combo Amp: The most important quality of an acoustic combo amp is obviously the ability to reproduce that distinctive tone of an acoustic guitar with as much clarity as possible. I was very pleasantly surprised with how clear it sounded using a nylon stringed guitar and the fact that it didn't sound distorted at all even when the volume is cranked up. I also used a microphone for a non electric flamenco guitar I have and it sounded beautiful with a full rich tone. Then I tried my steel stringed Taylor acoustic electric and once again it was crystal clear with plenty of punch. The effects worked well but I don't tend to use them on my acoustic guitars very much.

I have been using a digital delay and a little compression (you don't want to overdo the compression, especially on nylon stringed guitars) and they work just fine. The unit appears to be very solidly built and for a 50 watt amplifier it's quite compact. After playing it for a couple of weeks with different instruments I feel that I made the right choice and I highly recommend it.

I love the versatility and ease of use. It's PERFECT for my acoustic/folk sound. Sounds awesome with my mandolin, guitar, and violin plugged into it as well, when I'm asked to accompany bands, and is powerful enough for me to play along with other band members. I've had this amp now for 11 years and it's still going strong. The leather carrying strap broke a few years ago- but other than that I HIGHLY recommend.

At our New Year's Eve party, we set it up with an acoustic in channel 1 and a small mixer in channel 2. The mixer had 3 vocal mics, 2 more acoustic guitars and a mandolin in it. I had the Marshall as50r, the previous version, and the chorus was'pedal like', in that it was like a pedal in front of the amp that I'd done many times. This Marshall as50D has digital chorus and reverb which are more 'studio like' in that it is the way I would sound in my studio.
